Expanding Your Skills with Specialized Techniques January 10th - February 28th

$500.00

Instructors: Chin Lin (He/ Him)

Date: Sundays, January 10th - February 28th (8 Sessions)

Time: 9:00am -12:00pm

Open to advanced beginners, intermediate, and advanced potters.

Explore new approaches to working with clay this winter. Students will learn less common techniques, including making plates without centering, centering with a board, working with larger amounts of clay, and turning a choking motion into a pull to increase the height of a cylinder.

We’ll take a closer look at why we wedge clay, what different wedging methods accomplish, and how to choose the best method for your project. Students will also explore slab work with multicolored clay and texture, along with glazing methods suited to the work they create. Throughout the class, we’ll discuss ways to adjust working techniques to reduce strain on the wrists and back.

Students should have a basic understanding of working with clay. Beginners with some experience and more experienced potters are welcome.
