Time: Fridays, 2:30pm-5:30pm (8 sessions)

Open to beginners

Basic Clay is designed as an introductory class for those new to pottery. It will cover foundational skills such as wedging, centering, throwing bowls, cups, and mugs, plus pulling and attaching handles. Glazing and firing processes are also covered. Additional hand building techniques can be covered if there is a class interest. The goal is to develop a solid foundation in working with clay. Experienced potters may join with the instructor’s permission.

About Marc Mancuso

Marc is a maker, teacher, and thinker who welcomes minutiae, experiments with processes, and pushes materials to extremes. As a ceramics educator for over 25 years, Marc still looks forward to discovering better modes of communicating with students and other teachers. He is keenly interested in finding the nuanced sentiment, a useful reference, or the right technique that propels someone forward. He teaches in several studios around the Boston area.
